frndz

pilot notice · updated october 26, 2026

privacy should feel like trust.

FRNDZ is currently an invite-only pilot for people ages 13 and older. This notice explains the pilot as it exists today; counsel review and a final production policy are required before a public launch.

scope of this pilot.

FRNDZ is an invite-only product pilot for people ages 13 and older. Users ages 13 through 17 need permission from a parent or legal guardian before creating or using an account. An invitation is bound to one email and sign-in method; it is not permission to create additional or shared accounts.

what the pilot may collect.

  • Account identifiers and profile details you choose to provide.
  • Your trusted-circle relationships, saves, questions, and attributed Signals.
  • Reports you submit, including the reason and optional details, plus block and mute references.
  • Location only when you deliberately use a location-based feature.
  • Phone contacts only if you choose to match them, stored as one-way keyed hashes, never as names or numbers.
  • Links, captions and screenshots you deliberately share to FRNDZ to save a place or thing.
  • Google Maps or Instagram downloads you choose to import: they are read on your device to find places, only the saved places, links and notes in them reach FRNDZ, and the files themselves are not kept.
  • If you use the iPhone app: a push notification token, and the settings you turn on there.
  • Basic device, security, and reliability events needed to operate the service.

how it is used.

Data is used to authenticate you, operate your trust graph, return attributed Signals, prevent abuse, and understand whether the pilot works. FRNDZ must not sell personal information or invent a Signal in a person's voice.

the iPhone app.

  • Walking-past alerts are off until you turn them on. When on, your phone watches the nearest places people you follow saved. Which place you walked past stays on your phone and is never sent to FRNDZ. The app sends FRNDZ a rounded location (about 110 meters) only to find nearby saves for the widget and alerts, and FRNDZ does not store it.
  • The FRNDZ keyboard needs Full Access only to search your saves and your friends' on FRNDZ. It never reads, keeps or sends what you type in other apps. Only what you type into its own search box leaves the phone.
  • The share sheet sends only what you choose to share. Notifications are off until you allow them, and you can choose what you get and quiet hours in preferences.

who helps operate it.

The pilot uses Supabase for authentication and data, Vercel for hosting plus aggregate route and performance measurement, and Sentry for privacy-minimized error monitoring when configured. Vercel Web Analytics is designed to operate without tracking cookies. FRNDZ masks form inputs and media in any deliberately enabled replay and does not authorize these providers to sell member information.

When you share a screenshot, link or caption to save something, or ask FRNDZ a question, that content is sent to Anthropic to read it. When you ask FRNDZ to find places in your screenshots, on iPhone the screenshots are read on your phone and only their text is sent; on the web, the screenshots you pick are sent to read them. FRNDZ keeps neither, only the places you choose to save. To look up places and events, FRNDZ sends the place or search details (not your identity) to Google Places, Foursquare and Ticketmaster. Notifications are delivered through Apple and your browser's push service.

your choices.

You may stop using the pilot at any time. Signed-in members can download a private copy of their FRNDZ data or permanently delete their account from Account & privacy in preferences. For access or correction requests that those controls do not resolve, use the support channel supplied with your invite.

The portable copy includes data you provided and activity directly about your account. It excludes other members' private content and security material such as invite tokens, token hashes, contact-match hashes, provider credentials, and internal abuse-prevention records.

age boundary.

You must be at least 13 to create or use a FRNDZ account. If you are ages 13 through 17, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian before creating or using an account. People under 13 may not use FRNDZ. FRNDZ does not currently independently verify a user's age or this permission.
